Coronavirus Update

We felt with the recent coronavirus outbreak (also known as COVID-19), giving an update would be appropriate.

    Here's the brief version:
    - Jamaica has 8 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of today (March 13)
    - Beginning today, schools island-wide are closed for at least the next two weeks
    - This week's team from Hope College canceled their trip here due to the virus
    - There are no confirmed cases within the CCCD community (students, staff, and the village) - including our family

Many on the island are facing financial burdens, as this is typically a touristy time of year and tourists are needing to cancel travel plans. There are workers across Jamaica (and around the world) faced with the risk of going to work and being in contact with travelers, or staying home and not being compensated. In addition, families are scrambling for childcare and groceries with the news of schools closing. We ask that you please be in prayer for our family, the people of CCCD, the island of Jamaica, and around the world for health, safety, and peace.

We welcome any questions or prayer requests on your end, and wanted to leave you with part of a hymn we are are finding solace in:

My hope is built on nothing less
    Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus name

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
